Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 2

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together using an electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy.

  3. 3

    Add Egg and Vanilla

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix until fully incorporated.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not over-mix.

  5. 5

    Chill the Dough

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow it to firm up.

Baking

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 7

    Shape the Cookies

After chilling, scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.

  3. 8

    Bake the Cookies

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may still appear soft.

  4. 9

    Cool the Cookies

Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Finishing Touch

  1. 10

    Dust with Powdered Sugar

Once the cookies are completely cool, dust them generously with powdered sugar before serving.
