Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Garlic Herb Butter

In a small bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, and chopped fresh thyme. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ribeye Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps it cook more evenly. Pat the steak dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Grilling

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (around 450°F to 500°F). Make sure the grill grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Grill the Ribeye

Once the grill is hot, place the ribeye steak on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to get a good sear. Flip the steak and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Garlic Herb Butter

During the last minute of grilling, place a dollop of the garlic herb butter on top of the steak. Close the grill lid to let the butter melt over the steak.

Finishing

  1. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the grill and transfer it to a cutting board. Let it rest for about 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

  2. 7

    Serve

Slice the ribeye against the grain and serve with any remaining garlic herb butter on the side.
