Churro Dough

Dipping Sauce (optional)

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil the Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, add 1 cup of all-purpose flour all at once. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Let the dough cool for about 5 minutes. Then, add the 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

Coating Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Set aside for coating.

Frying Churros

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe the Churros

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Carefully pipe 4-inch long strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting off the dough with scissors.

  3. 7

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  4. 8

    Coat with Sugar Mixture

Immediately roll the fried churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat them thoroughly.

Dipping Sauce Preparation (optional)

  1. 9

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 10

    Melt Chocolate

Remove from heat and add 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
