Hibiscus Syrup
Banana Puree
For Serving
Method
Hibiscus Syrup
- 1
Prepare Hibiscus Syrup
In a saucepan, combine the dried hibiscus flowers and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- 2
Simmer
Once boiling, reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. This will help extract the flavors and color from the hibiscus flowers.
- 3
Strain
After simmering, strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl to remove the hibiscus flowers.
- 4
- 5
Cool
Let the hibiscus syrup cool to room temperature before using.
Banana Puree
- 6
Prepare Bananas
Peel the ripe bananas and place them in a blender.
- 7
Add Lemon Juice
Add lemon juice to the bananas in the blender. This will help to prevent browning and add a hint of acidity.
- 8
Blend
Blend the mixture until smooth and creamy. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides to ensure even blending.
For Serving
- 9
Prepare Glasses
Fill each serving glass with ice cubes to chill the drink.
- 10
Layer Ingredients
Pour the cooled hibiscus syrup over the ice, filling the glass about halfway.
- 11
Add Banana Puree
Spoon the banana puree over the hibiscus syrup layer, allowing it to float on top.
- 12
Garnish
Garnish each drink with fresh mint leaves for a refreshing touch.
- 13
Serve
Serve immediately with a straw for mixing before drinking.
