Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meat

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or chorizo sausage until browned. Drain excess fat. If using chicken, ensure it is already cooked and shredded.

  2. 2

    Season the Meat

Add chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the skillet with the meat. Mix well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the spices are fragrant.

  3. 3

    Heat the Beans

In a small saucepan, heat the canned black beans over low heat until warmed through. Stir occasionally.

  4. 4

    Prepare Rice

If not already done, cook the white rice according to package instructions.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Burrito

Lay a large flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. In the center of the tortilla, place 1/2 cup of cooked rice, 1/4 cup of black beans, 1/4 cup of the cooked meat, and a handful of shredded cheese.

  2. 6

    Add Extras

Top with sour cream, salsa, and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.

  3. 7

    Roll the Burrito

Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll from the bottom up tightly. Ensure the filling is secured inside.

Cooking

  1. 8

    Heat the Burrito

In a skillet over medium heat, place the rolled burrito seam-side down. Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes.
