Method
Preparing the Spiced Kabocha Squash

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare the Kabocha Squash
Cut the kabocha squash in half and scoop out the seeds. You can peel it if you prefer, but the skin is edible.

Season the Squash
In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Brush this mixture over the cut sides of the squash.

Roast the Squash
Place the squash halves cut side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Roast in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until tender when pierced with a fork.
Assembling the Dish

Plate the Roasted Squash
Once the kabocha squash is roasted and tender, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Flip the halves cut side up on a serving platter.

Add Burrata
Gently tear the burrata cheese and place it in the center of the roasted squash halves.

Garnish
Top with fresh basil leaves and drizzle with balsamic reduction over the dish for added flavor.

Serve warm as an appetizer or a side dish.
