Bread and Butter
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
Add flour, salt, and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 5
Shape the Bread
Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
- 6
Second Rise
Cover the loaf and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- 7
Bake the Bread
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- 8
Prepare the Butter
Soften the unsalted butter at room temperature and mix it with a pinch of salt to taste.
- 9
Serve
Slice the bread, serve with softened butter, extra virgin olive oil, aged balsamic vinegar, and shredded parmesan on the side.
