Method
Preparation

- 2
Measure ingredients
Measure 2.5 oz gin and 0.5 oz dry vermouth. If using bitters, have 1 dash ready.
Mixing
- 3
Add ice
Fill a mixing glass or cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with ice (approximately 1 cup) to properly chill and slightly dilute the drink.
- 4
Combine spirits
Pour the measured gin and dry vermouth over the ice in the mixing glass. Add the optional dash of bitters if using.
- 5
Stir (preferred) or shake
Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 30–40 rotations) until the outside of the mixing glass feels very cold and the liquid is lightly diluted. If you prefer a shaken martini, cap the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well chilled.
- 6
Strain
Discard ice from the chilled martini glass if you chilled it with ice. Using a julep or fine strainer, strain the chilled martini from the mixing glass into the prepared martini glass.
Garnish & serve

- 8
Serve
Serve immediately while very cold. Enjoy responsibly.
