Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. If adding cheese, place it on the patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare Toppings

While the patties are cooking, wash the lettuce leaves, slice the tomato and red onion.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each burger bun, spread ketchup and mustard. Place the cooked patty on top, followed by lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
