For the Chocolate Torte
Method
Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Oven and the Pan
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a double boiler, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- 3
Mix Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and the eggs until light and fluffy. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture and mix until combined. Stir in the flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until just combined.
- 4
Bake the Torte
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center remains soft and slightly jiggly.
- 5
Cool and Serve
Remove the torte from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Invert it onto a serving plate and carefully peel off the parchment paper. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
