Method

Making the Crackers

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 2

    Add Liquid Ingredients

Gradually add water and olive oil to the dry ingredients, mixing until it forms a smooth dough. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour.

  3. 3

    Knead and Roll

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently for about 5 minutes. Roll the dough out to about 1/8 inch thickness.

  4. 4

    Cut and Bake

Cut the dough into desired shapes using a knife or cookie cutter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with herbs and additional salt if desired. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown.

  5. 5

    Cool and Serve

Remove the crackers from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. Serve with a selection of meats, cheeses, and spreads on your charcuterie board.
