Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burger Patty

In a bowl, combine ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently and form into two equal patties (about ½ pound each). Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook the Burger Patties

Preheat a grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, flip, and cook for another 3-4 minutes. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty to melt.

Beer Braised Onions Preparation

  1. 3

    Sauté the Onions

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Sauté until onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Beer

Pour in the beer, bringing it to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and caramelized.

Tap House Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Mix well until smooth and set aside.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Cheeseburger

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster. Spread a generous amount of tap house sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf followed by the burger patty with melted cheese. Top with beer-braised onions and tomato slices. Finish with the top half of the bun.
