Method

Prepare Mushrooms

  1. 1

    Clean and Season

Clean the portobello mushrooms with a damp cloth. Remove the stems and slice them into thick pieces. In a bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Coat the sliced mushrooms with the mixture.

  2. 2

    Grill the Mushrooms

Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned mushrooms and grill them for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are tender and have grill marks. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cook Bacon

  1. 3

    Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the thick-cut bacon slices. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until crispy. Once cooked, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat.

Assemble Sandwich

  1. 4

    Toast the Bread

In the same skillet, toast the sourdough bread slices on both sides until golden brown. This will add flavor and a nice crunch to the sandwich.

  2. 5

    Spread Mayo

Once the bread is toasted, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on each slice of bread.

  3. 6

    Layer Ingredients

On two slices of the toasted sourdough, layer the grilled mushrooms, crispy bacon, and aged cheddar cheese slices. Drizzle with tap house sauce.

  4. 7

    Top and Serve

Place the remaining slices of bread on top to form sandwiches. Cut in half and serve warm.
