Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, mix warm milk with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Add the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and beaten egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling and Shaping

  1. 6

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, mix raisins with cinnamon, sugar, and softened butter.

  2. 7

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. 8

    Add Filling

Spread the raisin filling evenly over the dough.

  4. 9

    Roll and Shape

Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seams to seal.

  5. 10

    Second Rise

Place the rolled dough seam-side down in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.

Baking

  1. 11

    Preheat Oven

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 12

    Bake

Bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

  3. 13

    Cool

Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
