Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add the Flour

Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in the flour until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Add the Eggs

Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth.

Frying the Churros

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Pipe the Dough

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil.

  3. 6

    Fry the Churros

Fry the churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Sugar Coating

  1. 7

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow dish, mix granulated sugar with ground cinnamon.

  2. 8

    Coat the Churros

While still warm, roll the churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 9

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until just simmering.

  2. 10

    Add the Chocolate Chips

Remove from heat, add the chocolate chips, and let sit for 1-2 minutes.

  3. 11

    Mix Until Smooth

Whisk the mixture until smooth and add vanilla extract. Serve warm with churros.
