Tuna Tartare

Homemade Corn Chips

Method

Tuna Tartare Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Dice the fresh sushi-grade tuna into small, uniform cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Ingredients

To the bowl with tuna, add the finely chopped cilantro, lime juice, orange juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, and diced red onion. If you like some heat, add the finely diced jalapeño.

  3. 3

    Season

Season the mixture with salt and black pepper, adjusting to taste. Gently toss everything together until well combined.

  4. 4

    Chill

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Homemade Corn Chips Preparation

  1. 5

    Cut Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into triangles (six triangles per tortilla).

  2. 6

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

  3. 7

    Fry Chips

Carefully add a few tortilla triangles to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 8

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and drain them on paper towels. While still warm, sprinkle with salt.

  5. 9

    Repeat

Repeat the frying process until all tortilla triangles are cooked.
