Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Dough Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water while mixing until the dough begins to form.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

  3. 3

    Rest the Dough

Cover the dough with a clean towel or plastic wrap and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

Filling Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, combine ground pork, finely chopped cabbage, chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Assembling Gyoza

  1. 5

    Roll the Dough

Take the rested dough and divide it into small pieces (about 1 inch). Roll each piece into a thin circle (about 3 inches in diameter).

  2. 6

    Fill the Dumplings

Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.

Cooking

  1. 7

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  2. 8

    Cook the Gyoza

Place the gyoza in the skillet, flat side down, and cook for about 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.

  3. 9

    Add Water and Steam

Carefully add 0.5 cup of water to the skillet and cover immediately. Allow the gyoza to steam for about 5-7 minutes or until the water has evaporated.

  4. 10

    Serve

Remove the lid and let them cook for another minute to crisp up the bottom. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
