Rice

Method

Rice Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Rice

Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rinsed rice and water in a pot, bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 10 minutes.

Teriyaki Chicken Preparation

  1. 2

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, minced ginger, and sesame oil. Whisk together until smooth.

  2. 3

    Marinate the Chicken

Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and add it to the marinade. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator for more flavor).

  3. 4

    Cook the Chicken

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken (reserve the marinade) and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 5

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet, after the chicken is cooked, add the broccoli, carrots, and bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Donburi

In a bowl, place a generous serving of the cooked rice as the base. Top with the teriyaki chicken and sautéed vegetables. Drizzle with additional teriyaki sauce if desired. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
