Fish & Chips Ingredients
Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
- 2
Fry the Potatoes
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potato strips in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels, then season with salt.
- 3
Make the Batter
In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in the cold water until you achieve a smooth batter.
- 4
Prepare the Fish
Pat the basa fish fillets dry with a paper towel. Dip each fillet into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
- 5
Fry the Fish
In the same hot oil used for the fries, carefully place the battered fish fillets. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Plate the crispy fish alongside the golden fries. Serve with tartar sauce and ketchup on the side.
