Burger Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Smash Patties
Begin by dividing the ground beef into two equal portions (about 8 ounces each). Gently form them into loose balls without packing them tightly.
- 2
- 3
Smash the Patties
Place one beef ball in the skillet and use a spatula to smash it down firmly until it's about 1/2 inch thick. Season with salt and pepper. Repeat with the second beef ball.
- 4
Cook the Patties
Cook the patties for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms on the bottom. Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of American cheese on each one.
- 5
Melt the Cheese
Cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt, cooking for an additional minute or until the cheese is fully melted.
- 6
Toast the Buns
While the cheese is melting, toast the burger buns in the same skillet until golden brown.
- 7
Assemble the Burgers
Place the cooked smash patties on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with pickles.
- 8
Finish and Serve
Spread your favorite burger sauce on the top half of the buns, then place them on top of the assembled burgers. Serve immediately.
