Southern-Fried Chicken Wrap
Method
Southern-Fried Chicken Wrap
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Add the boneless chicken thighs, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best flavor.
- 2
Dredge the Chicken
In another bowl, mix together the flour and cornstarch. Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator and let excess buttermilk drip off. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
- 3
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil, cooking in batches if necessary. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- 4
Assemble the Wraps
Lay a tortilla flat and spread a layer of mayonnaise on it. Place a few lettuce leaves, a slice of tomato, pickles, and a piece of fried chicken on top. Drizzle with hot sauce to taste. Roll the tortilla tightly to enclose the filling.
- 5
Serve
Cut the wraps in half diagonally and serve immediately with extra hot sauce on the side, if desired.
