Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Roast

Take the USDA Choice Prime Rib Roast out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for at least 1 hour before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Meat

Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and dried rosemary. Rub the mixture all over the prime rib roast, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Drizzle olive oil over the roast and rub it in.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Roasting Pan

Place the seasoned prime rib in a roasting pan. Add the fresh thyme sprigs around the roast. Pour the beef broth into the bottom of the pan to keep the meat moist during roasting.

  4. 4

    Roast the Prime Rib

Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the roast, making sure it’s not touching any bones. Place the pan in the preheated oven and roast for about 3 to 4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.

  5. 5

    Rest the Roast

Once the desired temperature is reached, remove the roast from the oven. Cover it loosely with aluminum foil and let it rest for 20 to 30 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

  6. 6

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the prime rib to your desired thickness and serve. Enjoy your slow-roasted USDA Choice Prime Rib with your favorite sides!
