Crispy Pickle Chips

Method

Crispy Pickle Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the pickles thoroughly and pat them dry with paper towels. Slice them into 1/4-inch thick chips.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a third bowl, combine the cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the Pickle Chips

Dredge each pickle chip in the flour, shaking off the excess. Dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat it with the cornmeal mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test if the oil is ready by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles, it's ready.

  5. 5

    Fry the Pickle Chips

Carefully place the breaded pickle chips in the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to flip them halfway through.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Once fried, remove the chips from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
