Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water (1.5 cups) and sugar (1 tbsp). Sprinkle the active dry yeast (2 tbsp) on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour (4 cups) and salt (1 tbsp). Pour in the yeast mixture and melted unsalted butter (4 tbsp). Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead Dough
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Prepare Baking Soda Bath
In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add baking soda (2 tbsp). Stir until dissolved.
- 6
Boil Pretzels
Carefully place each pretzel in the boiling baking soda bath for about 30 seconds on each side. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
