Burger Preparation

Form the Patties
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
- 3
Cook the Patties
In the same skillet used for the bacon, increase the heat to medium-high. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired doneness.
- 4
Prepare the Vegetables
While the patties are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce. Slice the tomato and onion into thin rounds.
- 5
Assemble the Burgers
Toast the burger buns if desired. On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top, followed by 2 slices of bacon. Finally, add the top half of the bun.

Serve
Serve the burgers immediately with your choice of sides such as fries or a salad.
