Method

Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the ground American Angus beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until well combined, but do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, until browned.

  4. 4

    Melt the Cheese

Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Toppings

  1. 5

    Prepare the Toppings

While the patties are cooking, prepare the toppings. Wash the lettuce leaves, slice the tomato, and prepare the pickles.

Burger Assembly

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Burger

Place one cooked patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Cover with the top half of the bun.
