Hennessy "richard" 1oz Recipe

1. Chill glass

If desired, place a chilled coupe or old-fashioned glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail, then discard the ice water before serving.

2. Combine ingredients

Add 1 oz Hennessy, 1/4 tsp simple syrup, 1/8 oz (a splash) fresh lemon juice, and 1 dash Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker.

3. Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 4–6 standard ice cubes). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

4. Strain

Double-strain (use a Hawthorne or built-in shaker strainer; if desired, use a fine mesh strainer) into the chilled glass over fresh ice (or serve neat without ice if preferred).

5. Express the oils of a lemon twist over the cocktail by holding the twist skin-side down over the drink and giving it a firm squeeze, then rub the twist around the rim and drop it into the glass as garnish.
