Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Fettuccini
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccini and cook according to package instructions until al dente, typically about 8-10 minutes.
- 2
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the fettuccini in a colander, reserving about 1 cup of the pasta water. Set aside.
Sauce Preparation
- 3
Melt the Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.
- 4
Add Garlic
Finely mince the garlic cloves and add them to the skillet. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn.
- 5
Add Heavy Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently.
- 6
Incorporate Parmesan Cheese
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and the sauce is creamy.
- 7
Season the Sauce
Add salt and black pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
Combining and Serving
- 8
Combine Fettuccini and Sauce
Add the drained fettuccini to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly.
- 9
Garnish and Serve
Serve immediately, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
