Method

Preparation of Cheese Base

  1. 1

    Soften the Cream Cheese

Leave the cream cheese at room temperature for about 30 minutes to soften. This will make it easier to mix.

  2. 2

    Mix the Cheese Base

In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until well blended and creamy.

Incorporating Crab and Seasonings

  1. 3

    Add Crab Meat

Gently fold in the lump crab meat into the cheese mixture, being careful not to break up the lumps too much.

  2. 4

    Add Seasonings

Add mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper to the crab and cheese mixture. Stir until evenly combined.

Serving

  1. 5

    Chill and Serve

Transfer the crab dip to a serving dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Serve with crackers or bread.
