Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture along with olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Garlic Knots Shaping

  1. 5

    Shape the Knots

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 6-8 inches long, then tie into a knot.

  2. 6

    Prepare for Baking

Place the knots onto a greased baking sheet, leaving some space in between each knot. Let them rise for another 20-30 minutes.

Garlic Butter Preparation

  1. 7

    Make Garlic Butter

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in salt and chopped parsley.

Baking

  1. 8

    Bake the Knots

Bake the knots in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and immediately brush with the garlic butter.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 9

    Make Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, black pepper, and basil. Let simmer for 15-20 minutes.
