Prepare the Glass
Chill a rocks glass by rinsing it with absinthe. Swirl the absinthe around the glass to coat the inside, then discard the excess.

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing glass, combine the rye whiskey, simple syrup, Peychaud's bitters, and Angostura bitters.

Add Ice
Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes and stir gently for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.

Strain into Glass
Strain the mixture from the mixing glass into the prepared rocks glass.

Garnish
Garnish the drink with a slice of lemon peel by expressing the oils over the drink before placing it in.
