Pasta

Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4-5 quarts of water to a rolling boil.

  2. 2

    Add Salt

Once boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

  3. 3

    Cook Fettuccine

Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 10-12 minutes, until al dente.

  4. 4

    Drain Pasta

Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the fettuccine in a colander.

Making the Alfredo Sauce

  1. 5

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 cup of butter.

  2. 6

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add 2 tablespoons of minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. 7

    Add Heavy Cream

Slowly pour in 1 cup of heavy cream, stirring continuously and bring to a gentle simmer.

  4. 8

    Add Cheese and Seasoning

Stir in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Continue to stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 9

    Combine

Add the drained fettuccine to the Alfredo sauce and toss to coat the pasta evenly.

  2. 10

    Adjust Consistency

If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is reached.

Serving

  1. 11

    Garnish

Serve the fettuccine Alfredo hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
