Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine the unsalted butter and semisweet chocolate. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Add the melted chocolate mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the batter. Mix until the eggs are fully incorporated and the batter is smooth.

Baking

  1. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Evenly divide the batter among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  2. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

  3. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove from oven and let cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a dessert plate. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
