Bitters Ingredients

Method

Bitters Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large glass jar, combine gentian root, cinchona bark, orange peel, cardamom pods, coriander seeds, cloves, and dried chamomile flowers. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Alcohol

Pour in the high-proof alcohol over the herbs and spices in the jar. Make sure all the ingredients are submerged.

  3. 3

    Infuse

Seal the jar tightly and store it in a cool, dark place for about 2 to 4 weeks. Shake the jar gently every few days to help with the infusion process.

  4. 4

    Strain the Mixture

After the infusion period, strain the mixture using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into another clean jar to remove the solid ingredients. Press down to extract as much liquid as possible.

  5. 5

    Add Simple Syrup

Once strained, add the simple syrup to the liquid and stir well to combine. Adjust the sweetness to your preference.

  6. 6

    Bottle and Store

Transfer the finished bitters into dropper bottles or small glass jars. Seal tightly and label them. Store in a cool, dark place, and they will be ready to use in cocktails.
