Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the linguine in a colander and set aside. Do not rinse, as you want the starch to help the sauce adhere.
Marinara Sauce Preparation
- 3
Sauté Garlic
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- 4
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, then add oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir well to combine.
- 5
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let it cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
- 6
Garnish the Sauce
Once the sauce has thickened, add the chopped fresh basil for garnish before serving.
