Method
Cake Preparation
- 1
- 2
Melt Butter and Chocolate
In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semisweet chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth and fully melted.
- 3
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until the mixture is thick and pale.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture while whisking continuously to combine.
- 5
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in the all-purpose flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Gently fold the ingredients together until just combined.
- 6
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 7
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft. Do not overbake.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Let the cakes cool for 1 minute, then carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
