Chill and add ice
If desired, chill a highball or cola glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. Add about 1 cup of ice cubes to the glass to keep the drink cold.

Measure cola concentrate
Measure 1 fl oz of cola syrup or cola concentrate. If using a commercial pre-mixed cola beverage instead of concentrate, skip to step 'Pour beverage' below.

Combine with carbonated water
Pour the 12 fl oz of cold carbonated water into the prepared glass over the ice, then slowly add the 1 fl oz of cola syrup down the side of the glass. Pour gently to retain carbonation and encourage an even mix.

Stir gently
Use a long spoon or stir stick to stir the mixture gently 3–4 times to combine the syrup with the carbonated water without flattening the drink.

Garnish and serve
Optionally squeeze a lemon wedge over the drink and drop the wedge into the glass for a bright note. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.
