Method
Pizza Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- 2
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) while the dough is rising.
- 3
Prepare Toppings
Slice the fresh tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. Set aside.
- 4
Assemble Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a circle on a floured surface. Transfer to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the sliced tomatoes over the dough, then layer with mozzarella cheese. Season with black pepper.
- 5
Bake Pizza
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, top with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve hot.
