Pork Marinade

Sandwich Assembly

Method

Preparing the Pork

  1. 1

    Marinate the Pork

In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub this mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Wrap the pork in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the marinated pork shoulder in a roasting pan. In a separate bowl, mix apple cider vinegar and water, then pour the mixture over the pork. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and bake for about 4-5 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes. After resting, use two forks to shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 4

    Prepare the Buns

While the pork is resting, toast the hamburger buns lightly on a skillet or in the oven until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Build the Sandwich

On the bottom half of each bun, add a generous portion of shredded pork. Drizzle BBQ sauce over the pork, followed by a scoop of coleslaw. Top with the other half of the bun.

  3. 6

    Serve

Serve the pulled pork sandwiches warm with extra BBQ sauce on the side, if desired.
