Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel and thinly slice the onions. Place them in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Other Ingredients

To the bowl with onions, add chickpea flour, rice flour, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Water

Gradually add water to the mixture while stirring, until you achieve a thick batter that coats the onions well. Add chopped cilantro and mix again.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or kadai, heat the oil over medium-high heat until hot (approximately 350°F or 180°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the Fritters

Once the oil is hot, carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding.

  3. 6

    Cook Until Crispy

Fry the bhajis for about 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Flip them halfway through for even cooking.

  4. 7

    Drain Excess Oil

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried bhajis and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
