Coffee Base

Method

Prepare Coffee Base

1

Brew 1.5 cups of strong hot coffee. Use a drip, French press, or espresso-based method to produce a robust flavor. Pour the hot coffee into a heatproof serving glass or mug, leaving room at the top for the liqueur and cream (about 1/2 inch).

2

Stir in 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar while the coffee is hot so it dissolves fully. Taste and adjust—if you prefer a sweeter drink, add up to 1/2 teaspoon more.

Add Baileys & Whiskey

3

Measure and add 2 oz of Baileys Irish Cream directly into the hot, sweetened coffee. Stir gently to combine. The Baileys will slightly thicken the coffee and add creamy flavor.

4

If you want a stronger, more traditional Irish coffee profile, add 1/2 oz Irish whiskey. Stir once more to integrate. Taste and adjust the balance between coffee and liqueur to your preference.

Top with Cream and Garnish

5

Whip the Cream (if using)

Lightly whip 2 tablespoons of heavy cream until it reaches soft peaks — it should be pourable but hold a little shape. Alternatively, use 2 tablespoons of commercial coffee creamer for ease.

6

Gently float the whipped cream over the back of a spoon onto the surface of the Baileys coffee so it sits as a layer on top. This creates a creamy finish and contrast in texture.

7

Dust the cream with 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder or a light sprinkling of finely grated dark chocolate for aroma and a decorative touch. Optionally, top with 2 whole coffee beans.

Serve

8

Serve immediately while hot. Provide a small spoon for guests who want to stir the cream into the coffee or sip through the cream. Enjoy responsibly.
