Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Coffee

Brew 240 ml of strong espresso coffee. If desired, stir in the coffee liqueur and allow it to cool to room temperature.

  2. 2

    Separate the Eggs

Carefully separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Place the yolks in a mixing bowl and the whites in a separate bowl.

  3. 3

    Make the Mascarpone Mixture

Add 75 g of sugar and 1 tsp of vanilla extract to the egg yolks. Whisk together until pale and creamy. Add 500 g of mascarpone cheese and mix until smooth.

  4. 4

    Whip the Egg Whites

Using a hand mixer, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Soak the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Lay them in a single layer in a rectangular dish.

  2. 6

    Layer the Mascarpone Mixture

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture evenly over the layer of soaked ladyfingers.

  3. 7

    Repeat Layers

Repeat the process with another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.

  4. 8

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight to set the flavors.

Finishing Touch

  1. 9

    Serve

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with 30 g of cocoa powder. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
