Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Form Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Cook Meatballs
Drizzle the meatballs with olive oil and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside.

Sauté Aromatics
In a large saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Simmer Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the chopped fresh basil just before serving.
