Garlic Bread

Sunday Gravy

Method

Garlic Bread

  1. 1

    Prepare the Garlic Butter

In a bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Baguette

Slice the French baguette in half lengthwise. If desired, you can also slice it into smaller pieces for individual servings.

  3. 3

    Spread the Garlic Butter

Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the baguette.

  4. 4

    Bake the Bread

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the prepared baguette halves on a baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove the garlic bread from the oven, let it cool slightly, then cut into pieces and serve warm.

Sunday Gravy

  1. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 7

    Sauté the Onion and Garlic

Add the diced onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until translucent. Then, add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 8

    Brown the Ground Beef

Add the ground beef to the pot, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.

  4. 9

    Add the Tomatoes

Stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, mixing well to combine.

  5. 10

    Season the Sauce

Add the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and sugar. Stir well and bring to a simmer.

  6. 11

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. For better flavor, simmer longer if time permits.

  7. 12

    Garnish and Serve

Once the gravy has thickened to your liking, remove from heat and serve over pasta, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
