Mince the Garlic
Peel the garlic cloves and mince them finely. Set aside.

Chop the Parsley
Finely chop the fresh parsley and set it aside for garnish.

Prepare the Lemon
Cut the lemon in half and juice one half, reserving the other half for garnish.
Cooking

Sauté Garlic
In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

Add Wine and Clams
Pour in the dry white wine and stir to combine. Increase the heat to high and add the cleaned clams to the pot. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste.

Steam the Clams
Cover the pot with a lid and steam the clams for about 5-7 minutes, or until the clams have opened up. Discard any clams that remain closed.

Serve the Clams
Ladle the steamed clams into bowls along with the garlic white wine sauce. Garnish with lemon wedges and additional parsley if desired. Serve immediately with crusty bread or over pasta.
