Ingredients for Ebl – Fry

Method

Directions for Ebl – Fry

  1. 1

    Prepare the Prawns

Clean and devein the prawns, removing the shells and tails if necessary. Pat them dry with paper towels and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In another bowl, whisk the egg, then add the water and mix well. Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until you achieve a smooth batter.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the temperature by dropping a small amount of batter into the oil; it should sizzle and rise to the surface.

  4. 4

    Fry the Prawns

Dip each prawn into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered prawns into the hot oil, frying in batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the prawns and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  5. 5

    Serve

Arrange the fried prawns on a serving platter. Serve hot with lemon wedges and your choice of dipping sauce.
