Directions
- 1
Prepare the Mackerel
Begin by cleaning the fresh mackerel. Rinse under cold water and remove any innards that may be present. Pat the fish dry with paper towels.
- 2
Season the Fish
In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt (if using), and black pepper. Brush this mixture generously over both sides of the mackerel.
- 3
Preheat the Broiler
Set your oven's broiler to high and allow it to preheat for about 5 minutes while you prepare the fish.
- 4
Broil the Mackerel
Place the seasoned mackerel on a broiler pan or a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Broil the fish for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the skin is crispy and the flesh is opaque.
- 5
Add Lemon and Parsley
Once the mackerel is cooked, remove it from the oven. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for added flavor.
- 6
Serve
Serve the broiled mackerel immediately with additional lemon wedges on the side.
