Prepare the Salad Base
Wash the iceberg lettuce thoroughly under cold water. Remove any wilted outer leaves and chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Place the chopped lettuce in a large salad bowl.
- 2
Add Olives
Drain the green olives if they are canned. Slice them in half if desired and add them to the bowl with the lettuce.
- 3
Add Meats
Cut the ham and salami into strips or bite-sized pieces. Add both meats to the salad bowl.
- 4
Add Cheese
Cut the Swiss cheese into slices or cubes. Add the cheese to the salad bowl with the other ingredients.
Dressing Preparation
- 5
Make the Dressing
In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, and Italian seasoning. Whisk together until well blended.
- 6
Season the Dressing
Add salt and black pepper to the dressing mixture to taste. Adjust seasoning as desired.
Final Assembly
- 7
Combine and Serve
Pour the dressing over the salad ingredients in the large bowl. Toss gently to combine, ensuring all ingredients are coated with the dressing. Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes before serving for a cold salad.
