Blackened Shrimp

Black Beans (Vegetarian Option)

Method

Blackened Shrimp

  1. 1

    Season the Shrimp

In a medium bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Add the shrimp and olive oil, tossing until shrimp are well coated with the spice mixture.

  2. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until shrimp are opaque and slightly charred. Remove from heat and set aside.

Black Beans (Vegetarian Option)

  1. 3

    Sauté the Garlic

In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  2. 4

    Add and Season Beans

Add the black beans, cumin, and salt. Stir and cook for 3–4 minutes, until beans are heated through. Stir in lime juice before serving.

Taco Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare Toppings

Thinly shred cabbage, slice avocado, chop cilantro, and cut lime into wedges. Set all toppings aside for assembly.

  2. 6

    Warm the Tortillas

Heat tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for 15–30 seconds on each side, or wrap them in foil and warm in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5–10 minutes.

  3. 7

    Assemble Tacos

Fill each tortilla with either blackened shrimp or black bean mixture. Top with shredded cabbage, avocado slices, a dollop of sour cream or Greek yogurt, and fresh cilantro. Add hot sauce and a squeeze of lime juice if desired. Serve immediately.
