French Toast Batter

Method

Prepare French Toast Batter

  1. 1

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, and heavy cream until well combined.

  2. 2

    Add Flavorings

Add the granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt to the bowl. Whisk again until the mixture is smooth and all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Prepare Bread

  1. 3

Lay the bread slices out in a single layer on a baking sheet or tray. Allow to sit for 5–10 minutes to slightly dry out if using fresh bread, which helps them soak better without becoming soggy.

  2. 4

Dip each slice of bread into the batter, allowing it to soak for about 10–15 seconds on each side. Make sure the bread is fully coated but not overly saturated.

Cook French Toast

  1. 5

Heat a large nonstick or cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and allow it to melt and coat the surface.

  2. 6

Place 2–4 slices of soaked bread onto the skillet (depending on the size of your pan), and cook for about 3–4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.

  3. 7

Repeat with remaining slices, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.

Serve

  1. 8

Place 2 slices of French toast on each plate.

  2. 9

Top with a generous drizzle of warm maple syrup.

  3. 10

Add fresh strawberries and blueberries over the top.

  4. 11

Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve immediately.
